My story so far...

Childhood

I was born in the mid-80s, navigating a world that often felt confusing and overwhelming.

Despite being recognised as bright and academically gifted, I struggled to focus, daydreamed frequently, and was often misunderstood, failing to integrate with my peers or fulfil my potential. My sleep was dysfunctional, I had unusual phobias and some of the children’s TV programs and movies left me with PTSD.

My earliest memories include extensive testing for hearing, vision, and psychological assessments, as well as a constant barrage of negative feedback that affected my mental health and self-esteem.By the time I reached secondary school, I faced significant challenges, including depression, anxiety, and struggles with eating disorders, which became my mis-diagnoses that clouded the judgement of professionals and created an incomplete and inaccurate picture of my struggles for four decades

My Diagnosis

It wasn't until my son began his education which led to his ADHD diagnosis, that my own diagnosis came to light, helping me finally make sense of the struggles I had faced throughout my life.

Research shows that women with ADHD are often misdiagnosed or undiagnosed, leading to a lifetime of feeling out of place and masking who they really are in order to fit in.

It’s estimated that children with ADHD receive 20,000 more negative comments than their neurotypical peers by age 12, impacting self-esteem and mental health.

Many women also experience additional challenges related to hormonal changes, which can exacerbate symptoms and emotional regulation issues.

Sports Therapy for ADHD

At age 32, six years before my diagnosis, I discovered the transformative power of endurance sports. Engaging in activities like running and cycling became my hyperfocus, allowing me to channel my energy in a positive direction.
Over the last nine years, I have become a dedicated half marathon and marathon runner, completed an Ironman, and proudly compete for the GB age group team in standard distance triathlon. In 2022, I had the honor of placing 6th at the European Championships in Olsztyn, Poland. These achievements have not only provided me with structure and focus but have also helped me cope with the overwhelming feelings that often accompanied my condition.

Unfinished Community

My experience of being a misdiagnosed neurodiverse woman in a neurotypical world, and the loneliness and isolation that can bring inspired me to create "Unfinished," a community for women exploring their identities within the context of neurodiversity.

Here, we can share our stories, support one another, and foster understanding in a world that often overlooks our needs.

WHAT MY CLIENTS HAVE TO SAY

"I am incredibly grateful to Pippa for the invaluable coaching I had recently. For quite some time, I've wanted to improve my lifestyle and make healthier choices. She has helped me understand the role of nutrition in how I feel about training, my energy levels, and achieving my weight loss goals, and the impact of the foods I consume on foods on my overall health and well-being. I would highly recommend her to anyone seeking to improve their fitness and well-being."
